Quartzsite teacher arrested after having alleged sexual relationship with young student

The Quartzsite Police Department has arrested a 23-year-old man in connection to an alleged sexual relationship with a minor.

Officials say they received information Friday that a student and a teacher in the Quartzsite Elementary School District were involved in an inappropriate relationship.

That man was identified as 3rd and 4th-grade teacher, Garrett Sweetland.

During the investigation, it was learned that the unnamed minor were in a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship, and had engaged in sexual acts on multiple occasions.

Sweetland was arrested and booked on 10 counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
